What you should know
- We will discuss which backdrop colour you would prefer
- I will spend time getting to know your baby at the start of the session so that they feel comfortable
- Timeless outfits that co-ordinate with colour scheme can be supplied if discussed in advanced.
- Own special outfits can be worn & a teddy/comforter can feature in picture.
- Sitter sessions are all about simplicity; focussing purely on baby and their gorgeous facial expressions as they sit up.
Why have a sitter session?
A sitter session is simply when a baby can sit unaided. They are typically ideal for babies between 6-9 months when (most) are comfortably sitting up but are not quite ready to crawl or walk away yet. All babies are unique so please take this as rough guideline, some may sit earlier and some may take a little longer!
Babies change so much in their first year of life. It's so important that we grab these pictures whilst we can because before you know it, they'll be running around and demanding that Moana is played for the 5th time that day!
Sitter sessions are perfect for in-between newborn and 1st birthdays; a precious moment when they reach this milestone and are fascinated by the world around them.
We take away the busy backdrop and just focus purely on those gorgeous (sometimes toothy) smiles, beaming eyes and cheeky personalities. I have to say that sitter sessions are probably my favourite milestone because it is such a treat that babies at this age become playful, smile and curious.
When to book a sitter session
Most parents like to mark a half way point to their child's 1st birthday at 6 months. Ideally you should try to book from around 2 weeks after baby is sitting comfortably unaided. Having this experience before their cake smash can help them feel more comfortable when the time comes for their 1st birthday photoshoot.
What to expect during the session
At this age, babies tend to not be that shy and are more curious about what is going on. This is the time we can capture those giggling faces or long serious stares that you have become so familiar with seeing. We will use a neutral colour backdrop so that we don't have any distractions from the little details that you want to remember.
We will have discussed the backdrop we are going to use so that you can co-ordinate baby's outfit to complement the colour scheme. Sitter sessions are often fast paced so that baby doesn't lose interest and as we know, it can be quite tiring being so adorable!
You will have your baby's favourite toy/song/ silly dance ready to encourage those giggles!
I may use one or two different props if I will enhance the final shot (such as a small crate, blanket, or basket). We should have time for an outfit change to give you more options to choose from in the final gallery.
